JiTT —

Blending history, culture and technology in your pocket.

After receiving over one million euro in seed funding in 2014, JiTT.travel took its next steps to develop its prototype from a bare bones travel guide app into a more evolved form. These city guides created customisable tours of a city’s historical and cultural highlights and must-see points of interest based upon the user’s location and available time. The apps offered audio and written content, used the GPS on their phone to prompt interaction with the content, and was initially aimed at the business traveller with minimal time to explore cities. We had 16 cities in English, Chinese, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Russian and Japanese, and were the first travel guide app designed for Apple Watch, launched on the Watch’s launch day.

Travel guides for everyone.

Following the launch of the key city guide apps, we developed a marketplace. To support this I designed a platform called JiTT Travel Publisher aimed at travel writers, travel bloggers and tourism boards to allow them use our technology and incorporate their content onto our marketplace as either free or premium/paid-for content.

We onboarded many local travel bloggers and travel media within Portugal, and regional tourism bodies to the platform to create guides within the marketplace for distribution as marketing tools. Writers and client organisations could create solo or collaborative projects, and were directed and guided to create stories around our existing framework of Points of Interest, Geo Snippets and Historical Snippets, to create guides that reached our own benchmark levels.
